LONDON (part 1)

 LONDON...

LOCATION
London is the capital city of England and the United Kingdom, the largest metropolitan area in the United Kingdom, and the largest urban zone in the European Union by most measures. Located on the River Thames, London has been a major settlement for two millennia, its history going back to its founding by the Romans, who called it Londinium.

SIGHTSEEING
The London Eye
You must visit the largest parks in the central area of London, The Royal Parks of Hyde Park. It is popular for sports and sometimes hosts open-air concerts. Hyde Park’s neighbour at the western edge is Kenningston Gardens and Regent’s Park on its northern edge.

Closer to central London, there are some smaller parks such as Royal Parks of Green Park and St. James’s Park. A number of large parks lie outside the city centre, including the remaining Royal Parks of Greenwich Park to the south-east.

LEISURE AND ENTERTAIMENT
Within the City of Westminster, the entertainment district of the West End is around Leicester Square, where London film premieres are held. You can find many cinemas, bars, clubs and restaurants, including the city's Chinatown district (in Soho). While the busiest shopping area is Oxford Street, a shopping street nearly 1 mile (1.6 km) long—it’s become the longest shopping street in the United Kingdom!
